Often times customers need to affix a pallet to the conveying surface in order to better handle their part. mk offers two solutions for this type of application. We offer both timing belt and chain conveyors with attachments on them.
Typically, attachment timing belt conveyors are used in light-weight applications with relatively small footprints where high precision is needed. Attachment chain conveyors are ideal for moving larger, heavy loads over great distances.
 To construct our attachment chain conveyor we start with out KTF-P 2010 platform. This system utilizes a standard half-inch pitch ANSI chain, which allows fixtures to be added to the chain in this division. All of the standard roller chain attachments (vertical, right angle, single side, double side, single hole, multiple hole) are available. We then remove the return channel of the 2010 extrusion to allow the modified chain to pass through free of obstruction. Other conveyor modifications, such as rounding roll holders, are done as necessary based on the application. The customer is welcome to design their own fixture or pallet to affix to the attachment chain, or they can request mk to do so. With the current greater demand for this style of conveyor and chain, attachment chains are now readily available. Thus, what used to take four or more weeks to source can now be sourced in a single week, which brings these conveyors down to a 15 to 20 business day lead-time. Making these units is not only a cost effective way to move large pallets, but a relatively quick source of custom automation as well. |
